Swami Khecaranatha's new book: heart of recognition

In Heart of Recognition: The Wisdom and Practices of the Pratyabhijna Hrdayam the essence of this eloquent Tantric scripture, written in the eleventh century by Kshemaraja, is brought to life by Swami Khecaranatha’s in-depth commentary. His explanation of this powerful text reveals not only its philosophical meaning but the relevance of its ancient words to the modern reader’s life and spiritual practice. Khecaranatha explores the wisdom and practices embedded in the sutras and how to apply them to one’s own sadhana.

Throughout Heart of Recognition, Swami Khecaranatha reiterates his central message: Our own heart is where we recognize the highest truth in life, which is that we are an individuated expression of the Divine. He illuminates the Tantric exposition of how manifest life arose from Supreme Consciousness, how that Divinity gave birth to us, and the choice each of us has to discover and permanently experience our own connection with our Source.

CEREMONY FOR NEW RUDI STATUE

On December 27, 2011, Swami Khecaranatha (Nathaji) and the Sacred Space community celebrated the joyful occasion of the installation of a beautiful new Rudi murti (statue) in a PranaPratishta ceremony. (Prana means “breath” and pratishta means “establishing,” so this ceremony is a literal installing of life force within a statue or image, thus bringing it to life.)

Carved from white Egyptian marble, the 42-inch statue was commissioned by Nathaji with donations received from students as part of the celebration of Nathaji’s 60th birthday. The statue was carved in China based on photographs of Rudi, with Nathaji giving detailed instructions to the sculptors throughout the entire fabrication process.

SPIRITUAL CANNIBALISM (EXCERPT)

The following is an excerpt from Rudi's book Spiritual Cannibalism, the original first edition:

If there is a harder way to do it, please let me know so I can try it; because it must be wonderful. This is a large part of my philosophy. I believe in digging deeply within myself. I try to find some depth untouched by my conscious mind and bring it to the surface to be tested by my life. This polishes and exposes the grain and I know what my true nature is.

When we love someone, it is the flow of our energy washing away the tensions, much like water washing dirt from gold. The flow of life frees us from the depths of tensions, burying us within ourselves...

HURRICANE IRENE HITS BIG INDIAN

Beginning the morning of August 27, 2011, Hurricane Irene made its way up the East Coast cutting a swath through the Catskill Mountains, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. MESSAGE FROM JOHN MANN

As you may already know from watching the Rudi Video, Big Indian was a major site for the development of the Work which Rudi left us as our inheritance. In the years following his death, Big Indian continued to function as an Ashram devoted to sharing and spreading this Work.

In 1979 I bought the property in order to preserve and expand its existence as a unique Spiritual Power Center. For the next five years, working with a small group of students and friends, I devoted my summers to renovating and repairing the physical structures, starting with the Meditation Hall. Since that time Big Indian has functioned as a Spiritual Retreat Center, with Rudi’s Energy at its heart... READ MORE >>
